BRIEF BIO:
Betty Fisher (formerly Betty Kilby) was an infant plaintiff
in the desegregation of the schools in Warren County
Virginia. Many are not aware that there were five cases
that appeared before the Supreme Court and was part
of the May 17, 1954 Brown vs. the Board of Education
decision. Each case was very different and has it's
own unique story.
Betty was
involved in the Virginia case. It was her case that
caused the schools to be closed in Virginia under the
Massive Resistance Laws, and caused the first integration
to occur in Virginia. She is available for panel discussions
and speaking engagements. Betty can share details of
first hand experience in desegregating the schools and
implementing Brown.
The
book, "Wit, Will, and Walls", traces the life
of little Betty Ann Kilby from the
integration
of the Warren County schools in Virginia at age thirteen
to the revelation of
the power that she possessed deep within her spirit.
